The Litter Box

(I wrote this on jss3indy's blog in the comments, thought I'd share.)

Ok, I can understand if your postal person changes every week, they might deliver stuff to your house that doesn't belong.

I've had the same postal person since I moved in the Trashy Trailer about 15 months ago. I've said Hello, I've told him who were are and that we should only get mail for us (insert last names).

STILL he insists on delivering mail that is to someone else at my address. First time, I thought, "no biggie, he's forgotten. After all, I have one post guy, he's got potentially hundreds of houses." I marked in BIG BRIGHT SHARPIE "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS", circled the wrong name, circled the "Address Correction Requested" on the corner of the envolope, and put it in the mail box, flag up.

Next day, no other person mail.

Next day, THE SAME ENVELOPE I MARKED COMES BACK.

I took it outside next day. I stopped postal man. "Hi, I got this a few days ago, you picked it up, and yesterday I got it back."
He looks at it. "That's not your name?"

Now, understand I used cyan (bright blue) sharpie, so you could see this. NOT AT THIS ADDRESS, circled name, circled "Address Correction Requested" very clearly.

"No, hun, (I am in North Carolina, "Hun" and "darlin" are perfectly acceptable ways to address people you don't know) that's not my name. We are (insert last names here).
"oh. how long you been living here?"
"uh...over a year or so."
"oh. and you're shore that's not you?"
I blinked. "Uh, yeah, I'm pretty sure that this person doesn't live here."
"oh. ok, well, I guess I'll just send this back then."
"thanks."
"yup."
He starts to drive away.
"uh...sir?"
He brakes. "yeah?"
"can I have my mail?"

HE HANDS ME THE LETTER BACK.

I gave up and put it in the outgoing mail bin at work.
